Must See: Interactive Tour of the Universe — Online Tool for Teachers and Gawkers
Cary and Michael Huang built the universe — at least a nifty virtual version of it anyway. The 14 year-old twins from California captured everything from quantum foam to dodo birds to the universe. Each item is clickable for details. The project is like the Eames’ Powers of 10 film, but for the interactive generation. Needless to say viewing the universe helps put some things in perspective, so view the interactive large.
Cary credits his teacher with sparking interest, so teachers — be inspired. ABC News reports:
“My seventh grade science teacher showed us a size comparison video on cells, and I thought it was fascinating. I decided to make my own interactive version that included a much larger range of sizes,” said Cary in an email forwarded by his mother. “It was not a school project — just for fun. However, my science teacher loved it so much she showed [it] to the class! My brother, Michael, helped me put it on the internet.”
Please be patient while this page loads — it takes several minutes. But it does include, after all, the entire universe.
